About the “Lioness”. What inspired me to paint a female lion is the fact that they are always overlooked. Lions are celebrated and looked up to as a symbol of strength but the symbol is always depicted by a male lion. In nature, both females and males are equally important. As a symbol of strength, however, the lioness deserves this title, because the lioness does the work: he cares for the young, hunts and feeds the family, while the lion’s activity comes down to mating and occasional hunting.

This is why I’d like to show female lions as symbols of strength, the strength that supports action. Without the action, which is the execution of the mandate duties – the strength is nothing but an illusion.
